Watercolors Lightener

WATERCOLORS Lightener Watercolors Lightener is formulated for on or off scalp lightening services. It contains 3 persulfates that help break down material melanin, allowing fast lightening. Chelating agents have been added to prevent any distortion from minerals that exist in water. Watercolors Lightener is de-dusted and contains Aloe and Argan Oil to moisturize while hair is lifting. Keratin Amino Acids strengthen existing bonds during lift.

Important Safety and Preparation

  • Do a Strand Test: Before applying the lightener to your whole head, mix a small amount and apply it to a hidden hair strand or hair clippings to see how your hair lifts and how long it takes.
  • Inspect Your Scalp: Do not use this product if your scalp shows any signs of abrasions, scratches, or irritation .
  • Use the Right Developer: You must mix the powder lightener with a developer (usually hydrogen peroxide). 20 Volume developer is strongly recommended with this lightener for optimal results .
  • Prepare Your Tools: You will need a non-metallic mixing bowl, a tint brush, gloves, and applicator clips.

Step 1: Mix the Product

Combine 1 part Watercolors Lightener powder with 2 parts 20 Volume developer in a non-metallic bowl.

Mix until the product reaches a smooth, creamy, lump-free consistency. The formula is designed to have a stay-put texture for controlled application.

Step 2: Section the Hair

Divide dry, unwashed hair into four sections (top, bottom, left, right) and secure with clips.

Note: Do not shampoo the hair prior to lightening. Natural oils help protect the scalp during processing.

Step 3: Application Technique

For full-head lightening:

Roots: Apply the mixture approximately ½ inch away from the scalp. Process the roots last, as scalp heat accelerates lifting.

Lengths and ends: Apply to mid-lengths and ends first, working in small ¼-inch partings to ensure full saturation.

For a softer, diffused effect (Shampoo Cap Method):

Mix the lightener and developer as above, then add an equal part of shampoo to the bowl.

This creates a gentler formula that lifts the hair 1–3 levels, ideal for a sun-kissed or broken-light effect.

Step 4: Processing

No external heat required. The product is formulated to lift using only 20 Volume developer and ambient temperature.

Monitor visually, not by time alone. The hair must lift to a pale yellow (equivalent to the inside of a banana peel) before rinsing.

Do not allow the product to dry on the hair during processing.

Step 5: Rinse and Finish

Once the desired level is reached, rinse the hair thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Shampoo and condition the hair to remove residual lightener and restore moisture balance.
